Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from EnaodDesign & 2010 Update

Well that time of year has come round again, Christmas and New Year. Merry Christmas to you all (even if it is a tad belated) Its a time to give and receive gifts and remember all that we have to be thankful and appreciative off in this life and to look back and reflect on the past year and all that has happened and boy what a year it has been.

This time last year I had just been made redundant from my old design job and out of those ashes came the inspiration to get EnaodDesign off the ground, up and running. It had always been a dream of mine to be my own boss, have my own company and be completely in charge of projects and the creative work as well as meeting and working closely with new and exciting clients.

Admittedly many people had their doubts about trying to start a new business in a year of economic decline and recession but I made the call to dive in head first and put my all into it and what more can I say than I am still here today and EnaodDesign is ever growing, testament enough to my success. It has been more successful than I could of ever of hoped at a time like this. Admittedly there have been ups and downs but thats life and business but we continue to strive on, going from strength to strength.

I have picked up up some fantastic clients this year, the likes of Contagious Clubwear (the UKs No.1 Clubwear Brand), Croydon College and Frantic (internationally renowned club and party brand - personal fave as well so this was great to be asked to design for these guys) to name some of the bigger names, not forgetting to mention the smaller and more local companies (too many to list and I don't want to leave anyone out). Each is just as important and without them and the opportunities to work on projects with them I wouldn't be in the place I am at the moment so I thank all of you that read this and look forward to working with you more in this coming year. I am truly thankful to of met these wonderful people.

2009 has seen me exploring what additional work and services I can offer, diversifying from what I have been used to doing in the form of Branding and Print Work to also include Web & Motion work, even branching out into some Fashion design. One notable example of this would be a fashion line that alongside my partner and well known DJ, Andy Whitby we launched called AWsum Clothing which has done exceptionally well and there is still so much more to come in 2010 so keep coming back to check us out (http://www.awsumclothing.com).

I have also developed my Photography interests and portfolio branching out even further than I had anticipated. One of the biggest changes has been my entry into the Wedding Photography business. This time last year I was so anti-wedding photography (thats me doing it, not the actual job) it was crazy and I vowed never to do it as I didn't want to undertake that huge responsibility as I was nervous I wouldn't cut the mustard. However a good friend of mine and owner of Blenheim Photography, Jan McDonald knew of my photography skills and needed a 2nd Photographer on a Wedding and asked me if I could help out and offered me a rather tasty fee and the chance to train with her. I accepted and lets just say after that taste I loved it and I am now an official member of the Blenheim Photography team, working for them on Weddings and have had numerous bookings this year alone and many many many more to come in 2010. Anyone interested, even remotely or just has a passing curiosity in doing Wedding Photography or learning more about it should take one her courses that she will be running in 2010. I wouldn't be where I am without her.

1) The first and most long overdue will be the launching and unveiling of my own website, Yes thats right, for all of you out there that have been to my webpage you will of seen that I have had a holding page there for a while (if not go and check it out now before it disappears). Mainly because I have been so busy working on other more pressing and exciting projects that I have always put it on the back burner. However as I try and say to all my clients, the most important thing you need to do is maintain your PR at all times, even if you are too busy to otherwise one day you will wake up and the well of work will be dry and you don't want that. I will also be pushing myself on a number of social networking sites to keep people regularly updated on what I am up to. See the bottom of this post for links.

2) 2DamnCreative will be fully launched. A Non-Centralised Creative Agency Type Project (quite a mouthful hey) created from the minds of two extremely creative people, myself and good friend and photographer, Adam Robertson (http://www.adamrobertson.co.uk). I don't wanna give too much detail away here but if you want to find out more visit our site (http://www.2damncreative.co.uk). Effectively it is an Umbrella Creative agency that will have a growing membership base of various different types of creatives that are Independent or Freelancers offering their services and working collaboratively. The aim to offer a broader spectrum of creative services to our existing and future clients. Its an exciting project and something me and Adam have been discussing for a long time and are extremely excited about.

3) In 2010 I will becoming a bigger part of Blenheim Photography. As I mentioned before I have a lot of wedding bookings with them coming up but we are also now starting and pushing forwards with a new brand, Simply Models. Started in late 09 we are really gonna get this baby running in 2010 with Make-Up Artist, Sanchia Finlay in tow to make you people look pretty for your piccys and we are all very excited about this. We will be exploring a number of creative ideas and projects as a part of it but we will also be offering ourselves to those people interested in Modeling, as a career or hobby or even expanding their Portfolio. We will be hosting a number of Portfolio Days throughout the year and the first is on January 17th and we have an offer on at the moment for a voucher for this date.

Visit the site for more details (http://www.blenheimphotography.co.uk) or contact us to book yourself in or get further info. Alternatively if you are in need of some photographers to shoot some models for you, whether it be a project you have on the go, your a modeling agency and need us to get some images of your models etc then please don't hesitate to get in touch, we would love to discuss any ideas, jobs or projects you may have. We also have a few other things up our sleeves but we will reveal those at a later date so keep your eyes peeled.

Well I think thats quite a lot to take in for now and I think I've just about covered everything I can think of right now. 2010 is gonna be an exciting and prosperous year for EnaodDesign and myself. Already I have some very exciting design projects and work lined up for the new year which is great but if you are looking for some creative work to spice things up for you or your business then please do not hesitate to get in touch, we can cater for absolutely any job and budget and as part of this I am gonna be pushing the "New Year, New You, New Look" campaign. The idea being that a design alert business spending £100 on design will increase turnover by £225 (Design Council Survey) and after the tough financially year we have had in 2009 we could all do with picking ourselves up off the floor, dusting off and freshening our look and feel up and making 2010 the year that we bounce back. Hopefully I look forward to hearing from you in 2010 discussing your new projects. For now I will wish you a Happy New Year and will see you in 2010. Now for the shameless promotion, Enjoy :D

August 2009 Work Update - Fashion Lines

Its been an exciting few weeks. Ive had a lot of new work go flying out the door and so I feel that I would like to share some of this with you. This is just the first of a series of updates to be able to cover everything thats been going on.

One of the biggest being the Launch of AWsum Clothing. A collaboration between myself and Hard Dance DJ and Superstar Andy Whitby. A line of new T-Shirts and Tops for Guys and Girls based on some well known quotes taken from tracks released on his label AWsum. We worked side by side on the designs bouncing ideas off one another whilst I put the designs together and we are both extremely pleased with the results. We then had some samples produced and Andy and Model Leanne "Lettuce" Jordan came up my way for a photoshoot so we could get some wicked shots of the products which you can see the results of below. This is not the last you will hear from us on this. We have grand plans for this label and already have our next big releases scheduled in as well as some other exciting stuff :)

The T-Shirts are on sale now through Contagious Clubwear. Visit AWsum Clothing (www.awsumclothing.com) to make your purchase.

On another note I was also recently involved in another collaborative Fashion Project with Contagious Clubwear themselves, a very good client of mine in which we produced two designs of Hoodies which are also available from Contagious Clubwear (www.contagiousclubwear.com).

I also have plans to release some other designs of my own in the not too distant future so watch this space for further updates.

Documentary Films

I am a huge movie fan and like to watch as many as I can, doesnt matter the type or genre, if it sounds interesting then I will check it out. I dont know about any of you lot out there but over the last few years I have become a huge fan of documentary films. A good friend of mine has recently recommended a new one that they have seen and been discussing in great deal with another good friend of mine. The name of that documentary is Zeitgeist.

It is an eye opening and mind boggling exploration of the possible truth behind the subjects of Religion & Christianity, The 9/11 Truth as well as Money, Power & War through. As with most of these documentaries you should take it all in with a pinch of salt but it does present some interesting ideas and evidence to support their cases. All I say is that I recommend you be open to taking some of these ideas on board, its better to be open minded to many possible ideas that focused on one possible truth.

If you would like to check it out then visit: www.zeitgeistmovie.com
There are 2 Films there, the 1st and Original, Zeitgeist and its Sequel, Zeitgeist: Addendum (which I am yet to see but will be checking out soon).

This got me thinking as well about what I would consider to be my Top Ten Documentaries I have seen and would recommend to people. I have posted the list below (In no rank order):
  1. Fahrenheit 9/11 - Michael Moores 9/11 & Bush Presidency Movie
  2. Loose Change - Compelling proof that 9/11 was a conspiracy.
  3. Helvetica - All about the typeface Helvetica, its history and use. (Obviously because its a Graphic Design Documentary)
  4. The Pixar Story - History of Pixar and its Animation
  5. The King Of Kong - Steve Wiebe's battle to be the record holder of Donkey Kong.
  6. Zeitgeist - As mentioned above.
  7. Bowling For Columbine - Michael Moores School Shooting & Gun Movie
  8. Super Size Me - Morgan Spurlocks Fast Food Diet Movie
  9. Who Killed The Electric Car - Story of the very first electric car and its premature demise.
  10. An Inconvenient Truth - Al Gores Environmental Presentation / Slideshow.
If anybody knows of any other documentaries that they know of that they think are of interest then please post a comment on this blog entry. Would love to hear from you guys.

Welcome to EnaodDesign

Well it has taken me to a while to finally get this blog all setup and running.

I just thought I would make the first post a welcome post for all those that discover this or are invited to it. I hope you will continue to follow it in the future and I will try to put some interesting entries up.

For all those wondering what this blog is about well it will be a variety of things. I will obviously cover my work through EnaodDesign which will cover all aspects of my Creative Design & Photography, including new work as it is completed and goes live as well as news updates.

I will also post anything interesting related to Art, Design, Photography, Films and Philosophy (well in all honest anything that I find interesting and would like to discuss) as well as some of my day to day happenings, aiming to make this far more interesting than just a quick Twitter Update.

Anyways I look forward to posting more stuff in the future. If you would like to explore some of my other portals and sites for now then you will find links down the right hand side.
